Whitening can work for most, including those who have discoloration due to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lifestyle choices such as smoking or drinking staining beverages like coffee, tea or wine.<\/li>\n<li>Fluorosis (exposure to high amounts of fluoride early in life &#8211; usually in drinking water)<\/li>\n<li>Medication use (most commonly tetracycline)<\/li>\n<li>Age, which can yellow or brown the teeth<\/li>\n<li>Excessive wear to the enamel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><\/b>We make two potent systems for whitening available, including Nite White and K\u00f6R. Before we provide you with the right solution for your needs, we review your oral health, your history, and your lifestyle. This is the only way we can best address your needs, and if your discoloration is due to medications or fluorosis, meaning that it is &#8220;intrinsic&#8221; staining deeper in the enamel, we are likely to suggest the stronger K\u00f6R approach.<br \/>\n<b><\/b><\/p>\n<h3>How Whitening Is Done<\/h3>\n<p><b><\/b>Fortunately, teeth whitening is not a complicated matter. You will visit our office to have special molds made of your upper and lower teeth. These will be sent to a lab in order for well-fitting trays to be made. When they return from the lab, you come for a second visit to our dentist office, and we show you how to fill them with the compounds used for teeth whitening. You take everything home and use your system once or twice each day, or overnight, for a few weeks.
